Winona Community Foundation Fast Facts
  • The Winona Community Foundation (WCF) ended 2006 with net assets in unrestricted general funds of over $990,000 - it is these funds that are used for general operations and local granting projects and are invested to ensure the future growth of the foundation

  • Other funds under the general direction of the WCF include the Founders Fund and the Thomas Laken administration endowment fund, which at the end of 2006 had total net assets of over $100,000

  • The WCF's overhead remains very low, about two percent of overall expenses.  The majority of expenditures from the WCF are for grants to charities or to cover specific expenses for other local nonprofit agencies.

  • The WCF also manages over 60 other restricted funds totaling net assets of over $8,700,000 at the end of 2006

  • The many advisors of these restricted funds give the Winona Community Foundation Board direction as to where to disburse grants from these funds
