Youth in Philanthropy
As part of the Winona Community Foundation’s ongoing effort to educate about the benefits of philanthropy, a special grant program has been created titled ‘Youth in Philanthropy’ - teaching the art of giving to our youth . This program awards grants to Winona area non-profit programs and projects after review by local youth.
Coordinated with area schools, certain classrooms have the opportunity to work through this decision making process and are given grant funds to distribute while working with their teachers and Foundation staff to understand the process of giving charitably.
For agencies applying for these funds, they must have 501(c)3 status or a fiscal agent. Students at both levels will be given $2,000 to grant back out. They may grant this in one allocation, or divide between several projects. Agencies making application for these funds should keep in mind that although they may ask for up to $2,000, chances of receiving a partial grant are high.
